MGMT destroy the John Peel Tent

MGMT played to a rammed to the rafters John Peel Tent at Glastonbury tonight (June 27th).

The crowd was spilling way out of the tent by the time the boys took to the stage to huge cheers. 'Weekend Wars' immediately had people dancing in unison and the pace never let up.

'Electric Feel' caused a mass singalong, as crowd surfers made for the stage, but it was 'Time to Pretend' which really shook the tent. The duo - Andrew VanWyngardan and Ben Goldwasser - having been quiet between songs applauded the crowd's reaction as they left the stage.

MGMT played:

'Weeked Wars'
'The Youth'
'Of Moons, Birds and Monsters'
'4th Dimensional Transition'
'Pieces Of What'
'Electric Feel'
'The Handshake'
'Time To Pretend'
'Kids'

Keep up with all the action from Glastonbury this weekend (June 27-29) as it happens on NME.COM. For news, pictures and blogs keep checking NME.COM's Glastonbury Festival page. Plus make sure you get next week's issue of NME on UK newsstands from July 2 for the ultimate Glastonbury review.

New Girl Talk Album Is Well Worth Your $0.00

Photo: Getty Images
1. Girl Talk, "Here's the Thing"
Girl Talk (né Gregg Gillis) drops another album of his attention-deficit mash-ups, available on Illegal Art for an In Rainbows–ish pay-what-you-want price tag. Most tracks consist of a classic pop-rock track and a more recent hip-hop or dance anthem combined for comic effect, as in this one where the Frankenstein narrator says, "I wish I had Jessie's girl, but I'd rather get some head." [Illegal Art]

2. The Walkmen, "New Year's Eve"
We're about as far away from New Year's Eve as you can get, but fortunately the new Walkmen album (from which this sweet song is taken) is going to arrive a lot sooner. [Azltron]

3. The Acorn, "Goonies 'R' Good Enough" (Cyndi Lauper cover)
The Acorn cover this Cyndi Lauper title track from the classic film, but we gotta say, it doesn't sound like the Goonies really are good enough for them. [Quick Before It Melts]

4. Diplo, "Drew Barrymore"
Diplo uses Tribe's "Electric Relaxation" as the basis for this slinky summer jam, though the name is puzzling, as Drew doesn't really seem to be Phife's type. [Pitchfork]

5. Detroit Octane, "Barack Obama-sistible" (Robert Palmer cover, sort of)
Obama is apparently so popular now that merely mentioning his name in an otherwise hideously awful Robert Palmer cover will get you on national television. [Culture Bully] —Ehren Gresehover

Born March 19, 1955, in Naples, singer/songwriter Pino Daniele grew up acquisition both classic and traditional Neapolitan guitar, though as a adolescent he became interested in other styles of music, particularly British and American rock. His solo debut, Terra Mia, song dynasty in Neapolitan, was the number one exemplar of what Daniele called "taramblù," a combination of tarantella, rumba, and megrims. In 1979 his self-titled soph record was released, followed by Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus a Metà in 1980, and that same year Daniele was invited to open for reggae whiz Bob Marley for his show in Milan. During the next few days the creative person continued exploring his diverse Mediterranean, African, and Western inspirations -- launch in albums like Common Ground, a coaction with American folksinger Richie Havens, and the Middle Eastern-influenced Bonne Soirée -- as comfortably as writing soundtracks for films by Massimo Troisi. In 1989 Daniele took a step toward greater commercial success with the acquittance of the pop record Mascalzone Latino, followed by some other flood of albums, including 1991's Un Uomo in Blues, 1993's Che Dio Ti Benedica (which had deuce tracks produced by Chick Corea), 1995's Non Calpestare I Fiori Nel Deserto, 1997's Dimmi Cosa Succede Sulla Terra, and 2000's Al Madinah. Two geezerhood later the singer teamed up with gent Italian stars Francesco De Gregori, Ron, and Fiorella Mannoia for a circuit, captured on the befittingly titled In Tour. In 2005 Daniele released Iguana iguana Café, some other studio record.

Italian heavy alloy bands incline to be a bit dramatic and pontifical (to place it mildly), with preeminent examples such as Rhapsody and Labyrinth pursuing the symphonic, operatic, or at the very least progressive ends of the compositional spectrum; so the comparatively undecorated condemn metal championed by the competently named Doomsword sounds surprisingly novel. To be sure, their albums (including a self-titled debut from 1999, 2002's Resound the Horn, and 2003's Allow Battle Commence) tranquil contain challenging lyrical themes transaction with both ancient history and mythology, but vocalist, guitar player, and directing violence Deathmaster has loosely resisted many of his countrymen's excesses throughout the band's calling and ever-revolving membership.
