Amy Winehouse - Winehouse Publican Found Not Guilty

Former pub landlord James King has been found not guilty of perverting the course of justice when he accepted £200,000 to help save Amy Winehouse's husband from jail.

The jury at Snaresbrook crown court today took three hours to clear Mr King of the charge.

The publican, 36, was left with a broken cheekbone after being set upon by Winehouse's husband Blake Fielder-Civil and Michael Brown.

The pair have since been charged with grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident at the Macbeth pub in Hoxton in June 2006.

Mr King told the court that he felt bullied into withdrawing his statement after he was allegedly threatened by a third man, Anthony Kelly, who told him to withdraw his evidence so that Mr Fielder-Civil and Mr Brown could escape being charged.

Winehouse's husband now faces up to five years in prison after admitting his role in the assault and the subsequent attempts to cover it up.

He is due to be sentenced in July along with the others accused.
